About Janelle
I was born and have spent most of my life in Perth, Western Australia, a place that I love, although I am fortunate to also have lived in other places.
I am a person who has always been curious about people and the world around me. I feel so fortunate to have found a profession and career that fits so well with this (I have a Master's degree in Psychology). I love working with my therapy clients and much of what I know I have learned from them.
In the formative part of my career I got to work in a university setting, alongside passionate and kind colleagues, and a visionary clinical manager who encouraged my curiosity, intially, in Mindfulness Meditation then Anxiety and Stress, and finally in ADHD and the High Sensitivity trait.
There, as well as working therapeutically with individuals, I facilitated many small group interventions, some of which I created, including the ADHD Support Group for university students (which is now being run in many Australian universities).
In 2014, in the initial stages of my deep dive into researching ADHD and HSPs, I realised that I am an HSP with many ADHD traits. More than a decade later, I continue to work to understand what this means for me and about me, living, as we do, in a mainly neurotypical world.
In the past couple of years, I have been invited into the world of book publishing, having contributed in 2025 to Matilda Boseley's book, The ADHD Brain Buddy, and am currently collaborating with one of my heroes, author and illustrator, Matthew Johnstone, to create an illustrated book for adult ADHDers which will be released some time in 2026.
I have also been invited to speak about what I have learned, on podcasts and in-person, and more of this is planned for later this year.
Away from my work, I am a partner, a mum to three adult children, and a dog-mum to Alfred. I divide my non-work time between being with my family, reimagining and recreating my small garden, and spending time on the Swan River with some amazing friends, usually in the early hours of the day, working to improve my rowing skills, which are very much in their infancy.
